Custom mods including Ultimate Attenuators

Here is an example of a custom thing I just finished.  It is a pair of balanced Ultimate Attenuators.  Ultimate Attenuators are volume controls that mount directly on a power amp.....eliminating an interconnect and giving super sound.  The original ones I made back in 1990 were reviewed by Stereophile and were class A rated for 7 years.  The Ultimate Attenuators use a shunt volume control where there is just a single resistor in series with the signal.....no switches, relays, nada.  I invented the shunt attenuator system in 1989 and many people use it today, as it is so transparent.

Nude Vishay resistors are used for the series element and Dale resistors are swtiched between the phases using a high quality 24 position Elma switch.  All leads covered with cotton for damping and super sonics.  XLR jack and plug are Neutrik.  Complete damping of chassis.  Custom made wire is used in its best sounding direction.  Also included in this one is a way to lower the series resistor to lower values that can give you different flavors of sound and tailor it to your system.  There is $280 worth of parts here.  Price for this example is $600.  These attenuators would plug directly into your balanced power amp and your balanced cable would plug into the back of it.  This pair is going to be used between a Benchmark DAC and a Benchmark amp.
